IFMSA-Egypt Delegation with Dr Ahmed Khamis (UNAIDS Egypt Country Manager and IFMSA-Egypt honorary life member)

SCORA Stands for the Standing Committee on Sexual and Reproductive health including HIV/AIDS, where AIDS is one of our focuses, stemming from our belief that young people and adolescence are one of the vulnerable populations with the least decrease in new infections.

The first of December of every year is the International AIDS Day, where the world stands together to remember and refresh our vows to the fast track to ending AIDS by 2030. We all stand to see our progress, our achievements and our efforts advocating for those who are still facing stigma and discrimination.

We as IFMSA-Egypt have renewed our vow to keep medical students educated and informed about HIV and tackling stigma and discrimination in healthcare services. We are conducting university campaigns in over 15 universities around the country in partnership with the UNAIDS.

Furthermore, we were honored to attend several celebrations happening, on the 1st of December, we were thrilled to be present at the UNAIDS annual national celebration at bibliotheca Alexandrina, with representatives from several UN agencies, over 150 medical students from our beloved federation attended this event. Yet, that wasn’t it, on 6th of December, we also attended the League of Arab States celebration, sending a delegation of 10 medical students, reviving the regional agenda for HIV and remind everyone of the needed action.

Such happenings, reflects how determined and bold we are realizing the importance of our work to achieve the 2030 we want.
